Students may wear costumes on Halloween however we have a few guidelines: Costumes must be school appropriate, no blood, guts or simulated weapons of any kind. No masks or face paint that covers the entire face. We must be able to identify our students. No inflatable costumes allowed as it is a safety issue. If you have any questions please contact the administration.

TEAM CT CHANGES:
Due to period subbing and staff absences we are making some changes to team meetings. Team meetings will be scheduled by each team and run by the professionals on team, the teachers. This will provide more flexibility for teams to meet. They will no longer be run by instructional specialist or instructional coach. We will continue to provide the quarter checklist and will be monitoring the completion of the tasks on the checklist. Please be sure to document on the quarter checklist the completion of tasks. You may request for the IS or IC to attend your team meeting if you need them. Our focus will be shifting to attending the department CTs to provide guidance, resources and support for instructional practices
Dr. Taylor is coming to visit this week!
Teachers who are working with Dr. Taylor have the schedule.
Dia de Los Muertos
This Sunday, November 2, is Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), and the counselors have set up an altar and decorated the hallway leading into the Dome. We are asking if you would please take a few minutes out of T-bird time, sometime this week, to discuss the meaning of this day to your students. Perhaps the symbolism, significance, what it is and its philosophy on death. It would be helpful to also mention how it is different from Halloween. I am sending an attachment with that information for your use and some short lessons to use at your discretion. I am also more than happy to go in and speak to your T-bird if needed.
If any staff would like to add a picture of a loved one who has passed on the altar, please bring it to me, and include your name on a post it note on the back of the picture. I will have cardboard frames to put them in. Out of respect for our Native American community, we ask that pictures be of loved ones while they were alive and not pictures of them deceased.
This is a great site with a short 2-minute video that explains the meaning behind The Day of the Dead altar.
Also, Coco is an amazing example of Day of the Dead, especially the from 5 mins - 25 mins.
Please email from Renee with attachments
From Jenny and Leah: If student iPads are left in your classroom, please contact the library as soon as possible so the iPads can be removed from your classroom and given to the students.
Student Names on Games: As a reminder please DO NOT allow students to create their own names when participating in an online game like Kahoot and Blooket.
TEAM CTs: Please document your meeting on the quarterly checklist.
Movie license Update: FUSD will not renew our Swank license next school year. The cost of the license is $20,000 per year. Any questions regarding the guidelines below, please see Tammy.
In addition I would like us to work under the following guidelines when it come to movies:
Full movies are not shown during instructional time.
Movie clips of 7 minutes or less may be used for instructional purposes.
Any request for a full movie must be approved by administration for the remainder of this school year.

When we hit the 10% threshold, I will then need to deny. It is very helpful when you secure a sub.

Welcome to our bear-y awesome campus!
As you know we had a mama and two baby bears in a tree near PDH. We were able to work with Game and Fish and APS to safely get them out of the tree.
UPDATE:
The eight year old Mama and the twin boy and girl cubs were safely relocated to the area around Roosevelt Lake.
