As educators, we know the impact attendance has on student success. When we speak with students about the importance of being at school every day, our actions carry just as much weight as our words. We set the example.
Our current data shows that 20% of our staff have already had 5 or more absences within the first 7 weeks of school. While we know that illness and emergencies are sometimes unavoidable, consistent staff attendance is critical. It ensures stability for students, maintains the flow of learning, and reinforces the message that showing up matters.
Every day we are present, we build stronger connections, create continuity in learning, and demonstrate the value of commitment. I ask each of you to reflect on how we can model for students the importance of being here daily. Together, we can create a culture where attendance is not just an expectation, but a shared priority.
Thank you for the dedication and care you bring to our students and our school community each day.

OVER 10% thresh hold: |
Do you have a SHOUT OUT for a fellow colleague?
From James C: Kristin Brown for doing the job of at least two people since the school year started. She is truly a dynamo. Her expert handling of various difficult student and parent situations in the behavior support classroom and beyond has helped create calm settings where kids are happy and learning. Having an unfilled behavior support teacher position could be an unmitigated disaster. Fortunately for those students and for MEMS, Kristin is crushing it!
From Val: I would like to thank all of the teachers that are taking the TIA kids for out classes. This is such a positive step for them, and your willingness to work with them is most appreciated.
From Anonymous: Sara has a kindness that is prevalent in all she does. Her work with the inclusion club, as well as ensuring that all students feel welcome and at home at MEMS encourages me daily. Thank you Sara for this example!!
From Emma: I am beyond grateful to be on a team with Aubry Crenshaw and Bre Cheatwood. These ladies are so supportive and have worked extremely hard on our field trip!
From Beth C: Friday's assembly was the best pep assembly ever! Thank you to our FABULOUS Electives teachers!
