COMPLETE THIS FORM
TO GIVE A STAFF A SHOUT OUT!

From Marie O:  All of admin has really made a concerted effort to be present in the hallways & in more classrooms this year. I appreciate when you're able to be in my class, even if it's just to pop in. Even when you're busy, you see the importance of our work and this promotes a supportive, accountable environment for both students and myself.

From Jenny S: David Pischke-Thanks for the awesome picnic tables. It is so nice to sit outside and eat lunch.

From Tammy R: Huge thanks to the MEMS science team for being such fantastic guests for the Period 4 Podcast Team this week. Also special thanks to the teachers who were flexible with the podcasters' time: Morgan June, Laura Abrams, Lora Lorentsen, George Moate, Trevor Hathaway, Scott Godwin, Stevie Holsen, Morgan Coverdale, Sara Beattie, Lexi R2, and Stephanie Keebahe.

From Anonymous: Brie is crushing her position in sped. We rely on her knowledge of the basic skills and tools as so many of our kids need this support. THANK YOU!

From parent Rosanna Contreras: Ms.Yazzie was very helpful, she showed me how to use the school apps and how to check my son’s grades. I appreciate her taking the time out of her day to do so.

District Collaboration Day
12:45 at SMS
Please plan accordingly and be on time!

From Dr. Huffman for Friday

Objective: Teachers will be able to evaluate student work to assess how close to proficient it is, given the unpacked standard.

Overarching task: Teachers will discuss actual student work samples to see if they agree on their levels of proficiency (E, De, P, Di).
  1. Teachers must bring one sample of student work for each of the performance levels (Emerging, Developing, Proficient, Distinguished) for the standard they unpacked at the last collaboration day. They should make a couple copies of these student assignments and redact the names of the students and the grades they received.
  2. Teachers will break into grade-level groups in their contents.
  3. In these groups, they will revisit their unpacked standard and discuss their work. Pay particular attention to the difference between "Developing" and "Proficient."
  4. Teachers will then give their teammates an overview of their assignment, then share work samples. Team will independently evaluate each sample then discuss to see if they are all on the same page.
  5. Repeat this process several times to give teachers practice on doing this kind of calibration.
Next task: (Time permitting)

Teams will then develop a CFA that assesses this same reading standard for an upcoming unit of study. Agree to administer this assessment before the next collaboration day.

The module in Canvas will be released later this week.

Parent Teacher Conference Tally DUE THURSDAY OCTOBER 17 BY 4:00 PM

Digital Citizenship lessons: loaded in T-Bird Canvas. Begin this week to complete the lesson. We will have one lesson per week for the next several weeks. We are required to complete these lessons.

Whistling: We are hearing a lot of whistling from students. Many of the whistles are gang related. Please address the whistling when you hear it and ask students to please not whistle in school. Thanks!

The Lynns have uploaded an amazing math game in your T-Bird course called Math Snacks.

Fieldtrips are an extension of the classroom. Students should not be excluded due to grades. If there is a behavior concern that may require a student needing additional support to attend please work with administration.

Practicum students/Student teachers:  ALL practicum student requests must be cleared by Tammy.  Please DO NOT accept a practicum student.  Please refer all requests to Tammy.
